Supported Employment Resources in King County

There are many quality supported employment providers in King County . These providers fall into two general categories: individual providers and agencies (“vendors”).

Some of the supported employment vendors working on the Eastside which have worked with Academy students include:

AtWork! ( www.atwork-issaquah.com/client.htm ; 425-274-4000). As a agency, AtWork! has been serving the Puget Sound Region since 1962. Created by the merging of Community Enterprises of Issaquah and Custom Industries, AtWork! is a nonprofit community rehabilitation program that provides job development and work training for individuals with disabilities. AtWork! was developed by concerned parents and high school staff members who were dedicated to providing job opportunities for students with disabilities. AtWork has successfully worked with several graduates of the LWSD.

Eastside Employment Services ( www.eside.org ; 425-453-0676). Since the early 1980s, Eastside Employment Services (EES) has been a leader in assisting businesses throughout the county team with a largely untapped segment of the workforce - people with disabilities. EES works with a wide range of companies that value the hard work, dedication and diversity that individuals with disabilities bring to the workplace. EES has successfully worked with several graduates of the LWSD.

Provail ( www.provail.org/ ; 206-363-7303). Employment and Community Services helps people with all types of disabilities secure and maintain competitive employment in the community. Provail helps find jobs for people whose disabilities previously excluded them from employment outside of sheltered workshops. By working closely with the applicant and potential employer, PROVAIL helps identify appropriate jobs for the client. Then they design strategies for professional success--from training on public transportation to technological accommodations--and provide on-the-job support until the transition to the new job is complete. Provail has successfully worked with several graduates of the LWSD.
