Having a schedule of places to go, people to see, and things to do
The desired outcomes for students graduating from Kirkland Transition Academy include:
- An active, viable, and continuing personalized transition plan based upon the capacities and interests of the individual student
- A portfolio of community and work experiences
- An established network of support that continues with a student beyond their exit from the school system
- Active engagement in a weekly schedule of meaningful work and community activities ("places to go, people to see, and things to do")
- Social skills to level of expectations at work and in the community
- Daily living skills to level of individual independence
- Public transportation to level of individual independence
- Customized vocational training to part time paid work with ongoing support
- Communication skills to student's level competency
